Frequently Asked Questions

How can Counselling Help

Psychodynamic counselling can help by exploring unconscious patterns and past experiences that influence current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Through a supportive therapeutic relationship, clients can gain insight, resolve inner conflicts, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. This approach fosters lasting emotional growth and deeper self-understanding.

How do I start counselling?

It is important that you find a therapist that you feel comfortable, so I offer a free 20-min initial telephone conversation where I can answer any questions.

The next step is to book a time for an assessment. An assessment provides you with a safe and confidential space to begin to discuss the issues that are troubling you.

The assessment gives us both the opportunity to decide if the approaches I offer are right for you and what approach best suits your needs and circumstances.

How long will I need counselling for?

The length of time you will need counselling will vary according to your needs and individual situation. Psychodynamic counselling is usually a long - term, open-ended therapy, however, this can be adapted to a more solution focussed short-term treatment. We will think about this during the assessment and decide what form of therapy best meets your needs and circumstances.
